Constitution at the University of Kentucky
ARTICLE I: NAME
1. The name of the organization shall be University of Kentucky Student Dental Business
Organization
ARTICLE II: PURPOSE
2.1 The University of Kentucky Student Dental Business Organization is for students interested
in learning more about the business side of dentistry and the options they have to own and work
in the private sector. As an organization, we commit to informing and educating current and
future dentists about the business of dentistry and where they fit into the industry as practice
owners, partners, and associates. Our local and national meetings and events will bring the most
impactful and knowledgeable individuals in the dental community to network with members and
provide insight into the current market situation. Dental school teaches students how to practice
dentistry. SDBO will empower members to capture their worth in the market.
ARTICLE III: SEPARATION OF POWERS
1. The organization shall consist of the general membership, the Executive Council/Board, and
all committees and commissions of the club/organization.
ARTICLE IV: MEMBERSHIP
1. Eligibility
1.1. The club/organization shall consist of any members of the University of Kentucky
College of Dentistry.
2. Active Participation2.1. Pay $100 dues, and attend 2 meetings per semester.
ARTICLE V: MEETINGS
1. 2. 3. 4. Regular meetings shall be held on Thursdays at 6 p.m.
Meetings shall be called by the President.
Meetings must be announced once the schedule is confirmed (within the first two weeks
of the semester) and reminders will be sent the weekend prior.
Special meetings shall be held by the president or the majority vote of the Executive
Council/Board.
ARTICLE VI: EXECUTIVE COUNCIL/BOARD
1. Membership- The council/Board shall consist of a President, Vice President, Secretary,
Treasurer, Social Media chair, Recruiter, Technology chair, and Alumni chair.
2. Duties and Responsibilities
2.1. Conduct the general management of the affairs and purposes of the club/
organization.
2.2. The specific role of each is listed below.
2.3. Attend 3 meetings each semester and all executive board meetings.
2.3.1. If not in attendance, a valid excuse must be sent 24 hours prior to the meeting.
2.4. Actively communicate with other EC members outside of meeting times.
ARTICLE VII: OFFICERS

ARTICLE IX: ELECTIONS
1. Officer Eligibility
1.1. Any full-time dental student who is a member of the club/organization may run
for office. The person must be in good academic standing.
1.2. Must be an active member and have fulfilled requirements.
1.3. Must be on the Executive Board for a year before running for president.
1.4. Must have fulfilled attendance requirements.
2. Nominations
2.1. Students interested must reach out to the current executive board to set up an
interview.
3. Election Meeting
3.1. The officers of the organization shall be elected via an application for an
interview with the current executive board to fill the upcoming school year’s
executive board vacancy. Following the interview process, the board will have a
blind vote where a ranking of the interviewees will be collected. Then the person
with the highest average ranking will join the executive board in the coming year.
4. Term Limits and Internal Restructuring
4.1. Officers can serve two consecutive terms in an executive board position following
election onto the board.
4.2. In the case the executive team deems a board member incompetent during their
term, there can be a special meeting called by any member of the executive board,
and a vote can be taken to discuss reassigning roles and potential dismal of board
members. A majority vote is needed to trigger restructuring or dismal of executive
team members.
